An incident occurred during the Han Guang-41 military exercises on Friday (July 11) in the Xindian District, New Taipei County, Taiwan.
One of the three launch platforms of the Patriot surface-to-air missile system faced difficulties while turning on a narrow street and ended up colliding with the canopy of a street food stall.

According to local reports, the military driver misjudged the turn angle, causing part of the vehicle’s structure to become stuck in the makeshift covering. Any further maneuvering could have damaged both the equipment and civilian property, leading to the decision to halt the vehicle’s movement.
The armed forces immediately cordoned off the area and called the local police to manage traffic in the region. An inspection team, including representatives from the United States, was dispatched to assess the situation.
In total, the military vehicle remained immobilized for approximately two and a half hours, which, in a real conflict scenario, could represent a critical failure in operational readiness.
